A Time for Action.
It feels weird to be writing a newsletter this week.
We wanted to celebrate the reopening of our brick and mortar coffee shop in downtown Lexington tomorrow, June 8th. Welcoming back our employees, seeing our customers’ smiling eyes again.
Now that celebration seems secondary to the enduring issues in our community. We need action.
We are going to do what Nate’s Coffee does best: roast delicious coffee. We will be donating 100% of profits from our June seasonal roast to the Louisville Community Bail Fund. This special dark roast will only be available for in person purchases at our shop, starting June 8th.
The LCBF will also receive $1 per pound Blue & White Charity Blend sold in June. Details below!
Blue & White Charity of the Month is the Louisville Community Bail Fund
“Cash bail is one of the aspects of the criminal justice system that keeps communities wrapped up in systemic slavery and in debt. (Read/listen to a podcast about cash bail here.) The need to end cash bail is not new. The bail system creates financial barriers for those who find themselves against the criminal justice system.
“The Louisville Community Bail Fund exists to not only bail out folks, but provide post-release support to get them from jail, fed, and to a situation of safety. LCBF also maintains a focus on preventative measures for those targeted by law enforcement and threatened with incarceration.”
