Decaf Sumatra

$16.00

This medium/dark roasted Decaf Sumatra is decaffeinated through a Swiss Water Process and makes for a delicious brewed coffee or a creamy espresso. Enjoy a smooth, sweet and earthy coffee without all the caffeine.

Folks drink decaf coffee rarely by personal choice. Usually it is a health issue that doesn’t allow the coffee lover to consume as much caffeine. Perhaps it’s just too late too late in the day for the “perk” coffee gives. Why punish those coffee drinkers with sub-optimal coffee when they could drink our delicious Decaf Sumatra Roast?

Nate’s Decaf Sumatra is a smooth, medium dark roast that makes a great pour over. It can, also, be combined with any regular roast to create a personalized Half-Caf, including the Sumatra Mandheling for a matching darkness. Try it with our Yo! Wake Up to give the roast a bit of baker’s chocolate flavor.

From the Supplier: “We source our Royal Select Water Decaf coffee from lots that the Royal team has selected based on cupping evaluations. After selection, we pre-soak the green coffee in water to expand the beans for caffeine extraction. after, we introduce the beans to a solution concentrated with coffee solubles that extract the caffeine without extracting the coffee’s particular flavor.”

Here is a great article about the decaffeination process from the Happy Barista: How Do You Decaffeinate Coffee?

What Grind Should I Use?

You can have your Nate’s Coffee order ground to your preferred brewing method before shipping!

  • Whole Bean: Whole bean coffee. Ideal if you prefer the freshest coffee experience and use a grinder at home. We recommend using a burr grinder.
  • Coarse: A coarse, sea salt like grind. Great for french presses and percolators.
  • Drip: A medium grind, consistency of sand. This is the most standard grind. Ideal for most drip coffee makers (like Mr. Coffee) and Clever brewers.
  • Pour over: A medium-fine grind, in between drip and espresso grind. Great for pour overs and Chemex.
  • Espresso: Little less fine than table salt, great for espresso.

What if I use an Aeropress? Use this as your guide:

  • Drip: 3 minute brew time
  • Pour over: 2-3 minute brew time
  • Espresso: (our preferred method) 1-2 minute brew time
